Founder President’s Message

Parents, children are the valuable gift of nature to you. You will understand the most innocent laughs words and thoughts shows to the world only by the children. During this short period of our lives in this world, children are the best gift given by god to you. Parents should see that; children do their best in life, giving them the best education you can and see that they do some service to the world.

What I have to say is that I sacrificed my life for the past 30 years guiding the children to improve their condition of life style for the betterment of the world. For your information, I could gather about 300,000 children and bring them under one umbrella for Peace and Prosperity by visiting over 2000 villages of my motherland and the big cities in 21 countries in all continents. Therefore, I kindly request parents and all child lovers to contribute and cooperate to this wonderful idea for the sake of human services.

Vision

The Colombo Children Book Society- UNESCO Project is a non-profit organization with the Motto “ Books for the Brain as Food for the Stomach”, which helps to promote literacy, skills development, mutual understanding and international cooperation of children and youth..

Mission

In order to realize the vision, Colombo Children’s Book Society UNESCO Project endeavors;

	Empower the children “Peace through the Art” concept and living together in Universal village.
	Organize several National and international literary activities around the year.
	Continues to expand the number of Children’s Book Societies affiliated to the CCBS UNESCO Project–targeted a continuous growth of minimum of 50 societies per year.
	Train and introduce new Authors and children book lowers proficient in the production of Children’s Books.
	Translate of Sinhalese Children’s Literature to Tamil language and to develop and extend the societies to the other ethnic groups.
	Promote international understanding through children's books and participation.
	To give children everywhere the opportunity to have access to books with high literary and artistic standards.
	Encourage reading habit and distribution of quality children's books, especially in rural areas.
	Provide support and training for those involved with children and children's literature.
	Stimulate research and scholarly works in the field of children's literature.
